DESCRIPTION

At the dawn of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the acquisition of Château Lafite by the Rothschild family, our teams had to face major challenges in the face of a capricious climate.
From December to July, the incessant rains favored the development of mildew and the risk of hail. Summer only really started in mid-July with very high temperatures, sometimes extreme, which allowed us to rebalance the vineyard in good sanitary condition and thus lead us on the way to a great vintage.
After this difficult to tame start to the cycle, the last few weeks have been very encouraging as we see the 2018 vintage becoming great. At harvest time the only watchword was “maturity”, indeed the perfect sanitary state of the harvest allowed us to be very demanding on the quality of our Cabernet Sauvignons and our Merlots which turned out to be exceptional.

TASTING NOTES

Dark color with a purple reflection expressing a beautiful shine.
The nose is still very discreet but reveals great depth. Then appear aromas of black fruits, red fruits and cedar specific to Lafite wines.
On the palate, the attack is impressive thanks to a remarkable blend that expresses all its harmony and power in a long and fresh finish. In this atypical year, Lafite was able to show its full potential while maintaining its balance and elegance.
