DESCRIPTION

Yoichi is a malt whisky distillery in northern Japan, owned by whisky distillery company Nikka. It is a highly respected producer, and in 2008 the 20 Year Old won World’s Best Single Malt in the 2008 World Whiskies Awards.

TASTING NOTE

Nose: Rich and savoury, with liquorice, bacon fat and tempting peatiness.
Palate: Bigger and fruitier than the nose would suggest, with the peat blending beautifully with rich dark chocolate. Mouthcoating and satisfying.
Finish: Complex, with the peat acting as a counterpoint to all that richness.
Comment: A big-hearted whisky, that is by turn sweet and savory. Complex and classy
